Why can't I access some apps or websites with my eSIM?

Learn about common reasons why certain online services might restrict access when you're using your GitSim eSIM data.

GitSim does not restrict your access to any websites or applications. When using your GitSim eSIM, you should generally be able to use your favorite apps and browse the web just like you normally would.

However, some specific apps or websites might have their own policies or security measures that could affect your access when using any eSIM, including one from GitSim.

Reasons for access restrictions by apps or websites

If you find that a particular app or website is not working as expected with your eSIM, it's usually due to restrictions set by the app or website provider, not by GitSim. Here are some common reasons:

  • Proxy detection: Some services block connections they identify as coming through a proxy server, which can sometimes be how eSIM data is routed.
  • Security protocols: An app or website might use security measures that are not fully compatible with the way eSIM data is routed internationally.
  • Location or service provider policies: Certain platforms restrict access based on your detected geographical location or the type of internet service provider. They might mistakenly flag an eSIM connection if it appears to be from an unsupported region or network.

Your GitSim eSIM connects you through international roaming platforms. While this provides broad coverage, some apps or websites have strict security settings that might misinterpret this type of connection and limit access. This is a general characteristic of how some services interact with roaming data, not an issue specific to GitSim.

What to do if an app or website is blocked

If you're having trouble accessing a specific app or website while your GitSim eSIM's internet connection is otherwise working, the best course of action is to:

  1. Check if other apps and websites are working: This helps confirm the issue is isolated to a specific service.
  2. Contact the support team for that app or website: They can provide information about their access policies or any specific reasons why your connection might be flagged or restricted.

Unfortunately, GitSim cannot override restrictions put in place by individual app or website providers.
