Installing an eSIM on your Google Pixel is straightforward. Follow these simple steps to activate your eSIM profile quickly.
Before You Start
Make sure your Pixel phone:
- Is unlocked (not carrier-locked).
- Is running the latest Android version.
- Has internet access via Wi-Fi or mobile data.
- Supports eSIM functionality (Pixel 3 and newer models typically do).
Some carrier-specific Pixel 3 or 3a devices (e.g., Verizon models or phones sold in Japan/Taiwan) do not support eSIM. Pixel 4 and newer models universally support eSIM on unlocked variants.
Step-by-Step Installation
Step 1: Open Network Settings
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Network & Internet.
Step 2: Navigate to SIM Options
- Tap on SIMs or Mobile Network.
(Depending on your device, you may directly see an option labeled "Download a SIM instead?")
Step 3: Add the eSIM
- Tap + Add mobile network or Download a SIM (eSIM) instead.
- If prompted to confirm using an eSIM, tap Continue or Next.
Step 4: Activate Your eSIM
You have two ways to activate the eSIM:
Option A: Scan QR Code (Recommended)
- Select the option to scan carrier QR code.
- Use your camera to scan the provided QR code.
Option B: Manual Activation
If scanning isn't possible, activate manually:
- Tap on Use activation code or Enter manually.
- Enter the provided activation details (SM-DP+ address and activation code) accurately.
QR code scanning is the fastest method. Use manual entry if scanning isn't possible or if instructed by your carrier.
Step 5: Finalize Installation
- After scanning or entering the code, your phone downloads the eSIM profile. Wait for the Downloading your eSIM message to complete.
- Tap Activate if prompted (some devices activate automatically).
Post-Installation Setup
After activation, verify the following settings:
- Ensure your eSIM is toggled on under SIMs settings.
- Select your preferred SIM for:
- Enable Data Roaming for international eSIM usage if necessary.
Your eSIM is now active and ready for use!
